TeliaSonera International Carrier further expands Global-Local connectivity in the Middle East
- opens Point of Presence in Dubai with datamena

Dubai, UAE, 1 March 2014: TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC), today announced an expansion of its global network with a Point of Presence in the datamena Transit Zone in Dubai.

TeliaSonera is deploying a Point of Presence (PoP) in datamena’s data centre in Dubai, from where it will serve customers in the Middle East and Africa. The PoP will provide new opportunities for clients seeking enhanced international connectivity and IP Transit services in these regions.

Mahesh Jaishankar, Vice President, datamena, says: “We are proud to be collaborating with TeliaSonera International Carrier and welcome them to datamena. TSIC´s expansive reach across Europe, US and Asia as well as its strengths in providing connectivity for premium content and online gaming makes it an ideal fit as part of datamena’s diverse ecosystem. This agreement is right on par with our mission to simplify business for carriers and content providers in the region.”

He also says, “Tenants in datamena such as TSIC enjoy easy access to their customers, through existing connectivity routes and through new cables such as Middle East to Europe Terrestrial System (MEETS) that was announced earlier, further simplifying connectivity in the region.”

Brendan Ives, President, TeliaSonera International Carrier, says, “Deploying a PoP in datamena’s carrier neutral data centre is in line with our commitment to enable high performance connectivity to operators and content providers worldwide as well as in these emerging markets.”
